Can you do a leg to leg incision on a flying turkey? If so how do you go about attaching the wings? Also do you just pin the wings on a strutting or standing turkey with this incision. Have read about how much easier it is to have the form premounted to the base. Just can't figure out how you would do the wings. Thanks

I seen a frank newmyer turkey video and he cut the wings off where they attach to the body, then after he attached the wings to body reattached them to the skin by sewing them on. You might be able to push the wing wire through the body and angle it back towards the tail area, push wire a little then pull wing to get more wire to push. if you can't push it through the body, you could try using a drill and attach it to the end of the wire that is coming out of the end of the wing keep the wire straight and point it towards the tail of the bird and put the drill on slow speed and that will get the wing wire back there, I did a tundra swan this way using the T incision method, then use allthread approx. 3/8" to use for hanging wires for your flying mount two of them to support bird better. drill holes where you want them to be, then cut all thread to desired length and bondo into holes hope this helps, DeLoy.
the skin completly loose sounds scary. Hate to sew! Pushing the wire out the rear of the form sounds like an option to try. Thanks
I cut ALL my turkeys leg to leg and remove the legs and tail. It really isn't that hard to wire the wings to the form with the leg to leg. I wire the wings on strutting and flying turkeys only. On standing birds, I pin the wings in place. Yes, it is much easier to mount a turkey with the legs already mounted and the bird on its base.
It will be a very cold day in a very hot place before I ever cut a turkey's (or any other bird's)wings off.
Trying to finish up birds from last year. Turkey season comes in here in a few weeks. Hope to get a bunch more and always looking for faster and easier. Just feel a little handicaped when changing methods. Next one out of the freezer gets the leg incision, so don't be surprized when I'm on here shouting HELP! Thanks again
I allso use the leg to leg incision on my turkeys also. If you pre drill the hole for your wing wire with a 1/4 inch long bit it is easer to run wire into the body.I have trouble getting my wings to lay in the "pocket". Got a tip off here as to cut a "pocket" up into the breast. I have a form ready to mount on in a few weeks. I tested fitted a spear set of wings into the pocket' & it looks like it is going to answer my troubles with my wings.
