I have a few ducks that I am planning on mounting but I don't own a bird flesher at the moment. What would be the next best thing to use on fleshing ducks besides the machine. I've checked the archives but they didn't really answer my question. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Type in "remove Duck Fat" and the second post listed titled "How much fat do you remove on ducks" will give you an alternative to a wire wheel.
Scissors, small wire brush, Dawn, and a lot of patience.
I didn't want to spend the money for a Flesher either. I took a variable speed drill, mounted it to a board, bought a "soft" wire wheel from Van Dykes. I lay the board on a pair of saw horses and it works fine. Be sure and be outside. If your inside you'll have to fabricate some kind of fat catcher so it doesn't get all over the place. Oh, and don't stand right over top of it. Fat taste like crap.
Don't ask me how I know that. :~)

if you have not done birds before, get a book or a video. they cover the basics in the biginners manuals. as an amatuer and beginner, i just used a knife, spoon, scissors. this way works fine but is time consuming. at least on most birds. every once in a while you get an easy one. just take your time, and be thorough. then wash and risnse VERY well.
