Painting wood duck legs with acrylics

Submitted by ks on 3/28/06 at 11:20 PM. ( ) 24.255.129.82

This is the first time I have attempted this. Does anyone have any tips? How would you do the wash coat over the legs. Normally I use an airbrush with laquers but wanted to try something different and also eliminate overspray.
Thanks for your help.

If you want to eliminate overspray try removing the feet. Pose, dry, paint and then mount--no overspray.
The airbrush will still be your best bet with painting your base coat and joint (knuckle) markings. For the wash coat get some acrylic matte medium at an art supply store. Add some water-based paint (Lifetone or PT), a little water and mix. Paint in on the feet with a brush and wipe it off with a paper towel.
