I read the discussion about birds needed and about fellow taxidermist helping each other out that is great. My question is can a person legally put and ad in the paper asking hunters for donations of any birds they don't want. As long as there is no money exchanged for the birds ( waterfowl ) it should be legal right? I appreciate any and all comments on this matter thank you.

Intelligently? NO!
Such an advertisement is an invitation for trouble. Your ad won't be selective in who reads it and, rightly so, will be read by local, state, and federal officials as from someone that needs to be checked closely. Even with gifted birds, documentation has to be spotless. And remember, you still cannot exceed your legal possession limit as a "gifted" bird now becomes YOUR bird. If mounting birds is that critical to you, you'd be better off purchasing birds from lawfully licensed dealers.
i think that nothing is wrong with fighting cocks... and for all of the people that say it is wrong to fight chickens i think that you are nothing but a little bunny petter!
Don't think you can say that too loudly about fighting chickens.
for people to fight chickens. Even the biggest of chickens would be horribly overmatched by a person. And honestly how hard can it be to beat up a chicken. things must be slow in kentucky (i am assuming thats where you are from , unless the school is sponsored by KY jelly) to go around picking fights with birds. and how/why did that post get put on this thread? and maybe the bunny petters know a secret...if you tried to pet a chicken, or even tell it that its pretty, maybe it wouldnt want to fight.
How did this go from gifting birds to fighting chickens?
