I am doing my first turkey tail fan mount. I used the bondo method to cover the base and all the quills and I have it pinned to the cardboard to dry. How long do I need to let the tail dry before I attach it to the plaque?

I use Ear Magic instead but I attach them immediately on curing. I don't, however, remove the tape and the forming wire until the customer comes.
This fan mount is my very first attempt at anything taxidermy...but I am trying and want to learn. Here is my question..I have two tail fans on the board drying. Haven't done the bondo thing yet but will as soon as I get some bondo. In the meantime, I have one fan that has a bunch of feathers that are curled or separated etc. Is there anyway to fix that?
um... a straightening iron? I am not very sure... you may need to throw that 1 away.
