Just killed my first turk of the year today! 21 lb 10" beard 1 1/4 spurs. This is my first turkey to mount, have him skinned removed meat from the legs and wings but left the tail fan on and just laid flat in the freezer making sure not to mess up the tail.Is this ok or should I have removed the tail and put the bird in a bag? Been reading the archives on this but not clear on proper storage.
Thanks for your help

Eather way is OK. I just but 1 in the freezer tis morning too. Left the tail on. Just fold tail over belly of bird then lay wing ontop. & place in bag & freeze. I've done some birds this way that have been frozzen for 3-4 years. If any freezer burn just spray some water on them.
