wing wire size and bill paint

I am mounting my first duck and i ordered a kit from WASCO. The wires they sent look awful big,what size wires should i use for a flying mallard? They also dont look like they would be long enough to go very far into the body. I am also not sure what kind of paint and what colors to use for the bill and feet. Can someone please help me with some ideas, thanks.

Mallard

Wing wire =12ga
Leg wire =14ga
Neck wire =12ga

Bill-yellow ochre, black. You can shade the yellow with the black to achieve the greenish hue.

Legs Bright orange, black (I use bright yellow and shade it with red to get the color I like).
