Having some problems after painting duck bills using lacquer lifetone paints. Once I apply Krylon MAtte Finish over the paint it begins to crackle and almost dissolve. I have tried light and heavy coats not sure what to do.

I use water acrilic paint. Then use matte finnish in thin layers. Works good for me.

Here is a method I learned from Paul C. of PA. Go to any art supply store and get some Acrylic Matte Medium. (It looks like Elmer's glue but isn't). I found it at Michael's in the section were the acrylic paints are. I placed a few drops into a separate clean cup and added some drops of water to thin it down. Mix this up to an even mixture and apply with a small artist's brush. It will dry with a matte finish and give the bill a nice leather look to it.
Hope this helps!

i will give it a try.
works like a charm. i used liquitex, for this, probably same for the turkey heads coming back this summer, instead of mod podge, not as thick. still dont know why the krylon matte finish is incompatible though?
you are applying a solvent based liquid over a solvent based liquid.same reason you cant use a lacquer based wash over lacquer paint.
