shrinkage around eyes

OK I dont do many birds. But it seems like most of them I get shrinkage around the eyes. What can I do about fixing this? Do I have to thin the skin more there or what? Thanks for any help with this. Kevin

I used to have the same problem and would have to rebuild around the eyes to finish them. I use artificial heads on everything. That's just me, I feel they are alot easier than the real head and I do so many, that I have gotten used to skinning them out. Plus you don't have to worry about shrinkage or overspray from painting the real bill. I get my bills ready before mounting. Anyways, sorry to get off the subject, but I set my eyes with a drop of superglue, then before I attatch the head, I roll up a couple of small rings of apoxie sculpt and blend around the eyes. Then when I work my eyes, I press the skin into the sculpt and shape. I haven't had one shrink or pull away since, plus there's that much less finish work now. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions, just post them.

sounds good
