I have a question regarding old squaw in flight. As the bird is in sustained flight do the legs trail behind the bird (similar to just prior to landing) or are the birds legs tucked up to the belly?
Trying to find old squaw photos of birds in flight if anyone has a source I would be greatful.
Thanks
Chris

email me, i have several flying squaw pics.
like upland birds.they are always in some sort of trailiing position with the only exception i can think of is when they are about to land they will come foward.
Chris,
Go to www.decoycarvingforum.com and enter the discussion section. Do a search for squaw and you should find some. In fact, you should get about 47 hits. The person that posts them is Jeff Coats. In particular, see his post from Nov 6, 2005 for a great picture which should be on the second page of the search. PS, They fly with them pulled back by their tail.

Thanks for the input guys. Kirk that is a awesome post by Jeff Coats, amazing photos. BW I think you misunderstood what I meant by holding them up towards the belly, or maybe it was my poor description.
Thanks
Chris
