bird skin holes question

when you make holes in the skin from the wire wheel, can you crazy glue them before you mount them instead of sewing. um yea im still new at birds and havent got the hang of the wire wheel yet. thanks for your help,

I like to sew them.

I never had any luck with instant glues.

I can always tell where the glued hole is as the feathers dont align correctly.

I make one stitch past the hole, sew and one stitch on the next side of the hole.

This stops all tearing and is easier to tug and adjust the feathers, unlike super glues.

Holes that are dime size or smaller, I generally leave them alone. I do sew any holes in the neck/head area and the wing so that my caulk won't escape when taxiing the skin. I usually remove the oil gland and leave a hole that is a little bigger than a nickel. I use this hole to shoot caulk into the tail slot. I also sometimes sew holes that are near the seam if I think they will cause a problem when closing the incision. The feathers cover any holes I leave and 99% of the time it looks better than if you had sewed it shut.
