I like the idea of the poseable turkey drumsticks foamed onto the quarter inch thread rods until Van Dykes sent me some and I tried to work with them last night. Not only are they so short that the rod wont penetrate the bottom of the foot but even with a predrilled hole, the rods keep ripping thru the side of the leg when I try to drill them down. After much swearing I ended up slicing the foam drums off the rod, reinserting my own turkey wires and glueing the drums back together. Now I can still utilize the wood plug inside the drums to attach the legs to the form but I will have to bend my wires under my base instead of being able to just put a nut over a rod.

I've had similar problems with the wing inserts and wires being to short. If you haven't tried the drumsticks from Flynn's Forms, I strongly recommend them. The Flynn's and their forms are both a pleasure to work with. The drumsticks will pivot and are secured with screws or lag bolts. The end result is a very stable turkey mount with flexibility in posing the legs. I just finished an article in Taxidermy Today that covers how to use them. It won't be out for a couple of months, as the latest issue just ran. You can reach the Flynn's at 1.800.878.9373. Good luck.
have had good luck with pre drilled drum sticks from McKenzie .1/4 inch rod , threaded, plastic feet working pretty good for standing mount,
