First Turkey Question (again)

Good afternoon all. Still getting ready to start my first bird, just want to make sure my ducks are in a row before going full bore.

In the McKenzie catalogue there's a place where it shows removing the legs from the body and reattaching them to the manikin (with pre-cast drum sticks) prior to replacing the turkey hide. It looked pretty cool to do it that way but I'm just a little confused on how to finish the reassembly of the rest of the bird.

Can I assume that doing it this way means that you would have had to make your incision inside one leg starting at the knee joint from one leg, cross over via the underside and make your way down to the knee joint on the other side?

Does the thread when you sew it back up hide OK?

Yes the incision hides very well. Skin around the leg at the joint. then from one leg to the other, inside the legs. Actually, I make a cut from one leg to the center, and then from the other leg to meet the incision in the middle. When you assemble, glue the skin around the joint and sew from there. You may want to build up the shrunken area of the joint before glueing.

Much Thanks

Thanks OJ. Can I ask what your preferred method is? Removing the legs vs. keeping them attached.
