I don't mount alot of pheasants, maybe 20 a year, but I use an artificial head without the wattles and rebuild the wattles. I purchased a Cory Koruthers head with spring wattles and I am using it for a comp bird. Are you able to get that head in without splitting the head skin? I have thoroughly split the wattles on the bird. Any input would greatly be appreciated.

Matt,
Ive been using Cory's pheasant heads since they came out.
I have always inverted the neck and head when skinning and have never had a problem getting the head to slip back through the skin.
When I have my bird ready to mount I slip the neck material through the neck slide the skin down and glue the head to the neck material and wire and the skin has ALWAYS came back over the artifical head with no problem.
Good Luck on your comp piece.
Jeff
Jeff. I'm looking forward to using his heads, I've heard nothing but good things about them, especially for comp. Thanks again.
pheasants are nice and his waterfowl bills are amazing.
