I have a homemade tumbler that I put my birds in. I have CC grit, rice hulls, borax,HW sawdust, Dia. earth, old feathers, you name it. I really like the D.E. it takes the moisture out well. The bird is in therefor about 15- 20 min. or as long as it takes to wrap a neck or alter a form. The D.E. is great on snow geese but bird that have dark feathers need to be dried and shaken well or it will continue to come out on the feathers. good luck.
