OK...so I've got my turkey wing/breast mount drying on a sheet of OSB in my garage. I prepared the skin and tail, fleshed the wings, did the mineral spirit bath (out on my back deck for all the non-fuel folks) dried the bird with the hairdryer...etc. It's been tacked in position for about 2 weeks now and seems to be getting rigid. My question is, how "stiff" will it get...what's the normal drying period before I can take it from the OSB and place it on a wooden panel and hang? Like I said...it's in my garage, with temps getting into the 80's in the day, 50's at night with varying humidity. Should I wait a few more weeks?
Another question, it's drying in an "upright" position so all the feathers are laying flat, however when I hang it on my wall I want it inverted so the tail is at the top, will I have any problems with the individual feathers trying to lift or will they lock in place once fully dried?
Thanks for the advice.
