I am new at all of this, do I need a federal migratory permit to mount and sell captive raised properly marked mallards? Thanks for any help. I cant seem to find the answer, am overlooking it, or not understanding what i'm reading on the fws.gov website.

The bird permit did go up to $100.00 but it is good for 5 years. $20.00 a year sounds like peacs of mind to me.

50 CFR part 10, 13, 20, 21,24

Google 50 CFR parts 13,13,20,21, and 24
These are the federal laws that will give you all the answers.

in short its the application form and a hundred bucks for 5 years.
the captive license is a little different, but the CFR's contain all the information

You need to ask the DNR

"Do I need a federal migratory permit to mount and sell captive raised properly marked mallards?"

The federal permit does not cover pen raised birds as long as they have papers to prove it. On the other hand your state may require a state license to do taxidermy for profit and many states will not issue you a permit unless you have a federal permit.
