Fresh out of ideas-need some creative input

Submitted by jimmy on 6/7/06 at 3:00 PM. ( ) 67.182.238.179

After doing taxidermy for 16 years, I am running out of ideas. I currently have a single dove mount and I cannot for the life of me think of anything original to put him on. I have already done the simulated branch, small fence post, antler in the dirt, barbed wire, and I am drawing a blank. If anyone can shoot me an idea, I would appreciate it. Thanks for reading this and have a good day.

Dove

How about nesting or on a corn stalk,or in a field scene with corn kernels, dirt etc. Throw in an empty shotgun shell for good measure.

How about going way back to an "original" idea of the dove with an olive branch. Dont know where you will find olives in Utah though.

How about color?

Although doves are beautiful by themselves, putting them in a mount that will add color to the piece will make the bird standout. How about a branch of blueberries, raspberries, etc.Mount the bird upside down pecking a berry, or any other odd position creating motion as well as color.Good luck...JL

Bird feeder

Maybe do more than one, on top, one on the ledge. Buy a plastic see through feeder fill with seed, can't get more realistic than that.

Non Natural

You might want to consider something that is non natural (man-made). Something like a curved steel rod, wrought iron, clear acrylic, or carved wood. More of an artsy approach. Be watchful of overall balance.

Levitation

I' ve recently spoken with some people, only slightly more intellegent than I(hahaha), about magnetic levitation, and what would be required to make a bird float under a controled environment, either above, below or between magnets. It can be done, and I have most of the info to do it. It just requires an investment of from $300 to $1000 depending on the size of your bird. I wanted to do a buffle head, about $700, but a dove you could probably do for $300.00. If you are interested, I could email you my research.

I had to laugh

I saw a pair of pheasnats mounted getting it on. The birds were literally mounted mounting. This would be a great one for turkeys, but real hard to explain to a child.
