center of gravity

I'm doing a turkey on the roost, setting hunkered down all most to the limb. Just trying to figer the center of gravity out on this one. Not sure if the legs needs to be at a slight angle going down & away from the limb, our parallel with the floor.
Thanks for any help.

Check your reference pictures Ed. You will notice that the heaviest part of the bird is always over the ball of the foot when he is standing flat footed or on a limb. Simply put, the heaviest part of the bird MUST be centered over the weight bearing part of the foot.

Another way to figure out balance is to wire the legs to a body without the skin present. Without the distractions of skin and feathers you will easily be able to see how a bird should balance. Its simple physics---you just need to think "simply".
