what works best for a half strutt gobbling mount, strutting or standing form? or can you get a half strutt form. If you use a strutt form, do you have to change the tail slot. Looked in orange button. Lots of stuff there and am going back to read more. Thanks.

The tail is a separate body part and it actually stands erect during a strut. Several bird form suppliers don't differentiate and sell the bird body by size alone. It's the skin on that form that makes the bird appear differently.
Tim,
George is exactly right. Most of the changes you see on a turkey, from pose to pose, are a result of shifts in the skin itself. However, there are subtle changes in muscle and in the chest area that are easier to replicate by using different molds. Flynn's Forms makes a half strut/gobbling form. But regardless of the form used, I always saw off the tail slot allowing me to pose the tail at whatever angle I want. As far as that goes, I do the same with the rigid neck. I have an article that should be out any day now in Taxidermy Today that will cover this. I hope this helps.
