all birds carry mites and lice. you will kill them in freezer or during tanning.

Crows aren't as likely to be heavily infested with parasites as ground-dwelling birds are, but they can occasionally pick up a few lice or mites. Feathers can be washed in dish soap and warm water, rinsed very well, and then blow-dried on low.
Store them so that household bugs don't find them, or keep them in a container with moth balls. Roaches, clothes moths and various other pests will feed on feathers if they get a chance.
