acrylic european eyes

Submitted by Tereza on 6/30/06 at 6:51 PM. ( wingedcreations@yahoo.com ) 64.28.54.22

I scratched the acrylic eyes with the dremmel tool as I was reshaping the artificial head. The eyes and eye rings are already installed in the eye socket with magic sculpt. I am doing a competition piece. My question is: Would liquid crystal hide the scratch? or is there anything else I could use to hide it so it's not noticeable?

i talked to glen browning about this yesterday.i have always used tohickon eyes but am in the process of trying some euros.he was explaining the ease of setting with wooden tools to prevent scratching them but said if they did get scratched that liquid crystal, which had to be applied anyway for competition, would hide any scratches.good luck.

Liquid crystal will work but we work with these eyes a lot and the best thing we've found is a product called "Triple Thick Glaze" . It comes in an aerosol as well as a 4 oz. jar of liquid. You can find it at Hobby Lobby or from some of the suppliers. Use the liquid. Put the bird on it's side and using a small artist brush apply about 1/3 of a drop. cover the whole eye and allow it to flow to and under the lid. It is self leveling and will look better than the eye did when it was new. It works so good you'll want to scratch them on purpose. :)

Thank You
