what would it take?

Submitted by K.T. on 7/1/06 at 11:11 AM. ( ) 71.133.162.23

to update this site. I am involved with another site where we can post pictures of projects and when a response is given to a thread it goes to the top of the page.

It would be great to be able to see the work people are doing without having to send emails to each other.

How about $50 a month?

Won't you ever grow up and give it up. The site is provided FREE as a service from Ken Edwards and WASCO. If you and Cecil don't approve of how it's run, BUILD YOUR OWN. Typical modern liberalism. Come in, take advantage of something free, and then DEMAND that those providing the free service meet YOUR demands.

grown up, just didn't know, that's why I asked. Now I know I won't ask. I never dissaproved of how it was run nor am I demanding anything. Was just courious, calm down!

I am getting closer to that WHITE GAS comment!LOL

are you ready for a 3K run yet?

I'll start by saying this. I (and most others I imagine) appreciate this site very much.

With that said, it's getting a little old hearing about how WASCO is doing this out of the kindness of their hearts.

This is the business world, and this site has probably directed more cash at WASCO than any other means available. I'm sure you would agree?

If it wasn't for this site, I probably wouldn't have taken up taxidermy, as I don't have the time it takes to go to a school since I have a regular job as well. As a result of this site being available, I now order things from WASCO on a regular basis, and most of those products I buy from them came from ideas I read about in here.

I agree that it would cost WASCO more to update this site to allow pictures and so on, so that's their call. What I'm saying here is that it's kind of like the old saying, "You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours".

Ken, if you read this would you be kind enough to answer this question..What are your reasons for not going with a membership based setup that allows more options like picture postings and so fourth?

I'm not trying to stir anyone up at all with this post, I'm basically asking out of curiosoties sake.

I pay

Then by all means, GO THERE.

J, you don't get it either. Ken has posted on here several times for jug heads like you two that HE likes the site the way it is. It doesn't require him to be continually here monitoring each entry before it's posted, he doesn't have to ask/contract/pay/whatever, moderators to stay here and make sure we play nice. He understands that "registration" is for people who think everyone is honest and above board. A Hotmail address can be had by the dozens and then you have a phoney person REGISTERED. He lists ANYONE who has the gumption to use it, a HYPERLINK in the TOP MARGIN so you can have people fawn over YOUR WEBSITE (KT, does this fancy website you like so much do that?) I stayed on a very popular site years ago that dealt with nothing but guns and hunting. One day the owner decided to allow "pictures from registered members". Within weeks the obscene pictures started appearing and it cost him hundreds of dollars to keep it off. Finally, he closed the site. "Everyone" in this world aren't the shining beacons of character you two imply.

In case you haven't noticed, everyone bitching about how Ken runs this forum aren't the people ADDING anything to it. Just bitching.

THIS FORUM was the first and has become the most popular site in our industry. It's even attracted the big search engines when certain posts become hot topics here. Ever wondered about THAT when you're on those other "better" sites.

J, I find your remark insulting though Ken has much more class than I. "Scratch your back, you scratch mine"? INDEED. WASCO is one an endangered group of smaller suppliers. How do you intend to "scratch" Ken's back so he can retire next week. YOU have a day job. This IS his day job.

So stop the incessant whining about "fixing" this site. All you have to day is stay away from it and it will be better immediately. Some of us "don't bite the hands that feed us." And "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

first off George!

This response submitted by K.T. on 7/1/06 at 8:51 PM. ( ) 71.133.162.23

I wasn't complaining about the site. I was just wondering. I didn't know who ran it and have never seen a post about updating it. If you will notice in my last post I said " now I know I won't ask.

I think the site is ok the way it is but it would be great for people to be able to post pictures. If that is not in the scope of things, so be it. We will continue on the way it is.

Your JUGHEAD comment is way out of line, we were both just courious. Calm down!

again!NOW I KNOW, I WON'T ASK, IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL!

George

This response submitted by J Best on 7/1/06 at 9:34 PM. ( ) 64.33.143.44

George, Your "shining" comments are a window into why you say taxidermists can't make a living doing just taxidermy. It's fairly obvious to us jugheads that you frankly have no sense of business, and also that you are quite lazy, as your old @ss sits on here all day waiting to pounce on someone like a pitbull. Honestly, how in the sam h@ll do you ever get any work done?
I meant no harm in my post earlier, but if you want to get ugly, then game on you ignorant @ss. I've seen enough of your posts to know that most of what you say can mostly be thrown out the window, so I generally avoid reading your posts anymore.
I'm sure you'll come back and slander me, but one thing is for sure. Everytime you feel like someone points something out to you (heaven forbid), you take it as an insult and jump into attack mode.
For some reason you have gained a chip on your shoulder in life. Instead of sitting in the forums 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, you should do some soul searching and find out what's really affecting your ability to function as decent and respectable man.

I know you arn't getting your bread buttered anymore, but judus priest man, try and relax. Take a cold shower or some Midol for pete's sake. You know there are other ways of relieving your tenstion don't you? Can't you remember when you were 14. Geez!

Ron, I do have to remember, You don't.

This response submitted by George on 7/1/06 at 11:11 PM. ( ) 205.188.117.67

J. I have no need to slander you, you did it to yourself. THis same posting comes on this site once a month, every month and each time it's as if someone's discovered an anti-aging compound. Whatever you MEANT to say is superfluous to what you DID say. Ken has answered it here before and someone actually cut and pasted the complete response just last month.

Next off, you and your ilk seem bent on trying to impugn my business acumen. Have a ball. But before your BVD's choke you, remember that I was doing this while you were in junior Pampers probably. (Ron, you still ARE in Pampers if I recall.) I still do enough work to keep me quite busy for as long as I WANT to stay busy. I no longer NEED it to survive but it's the ONLY job I have now. The computer and taxidermy are the things I do during the course of a day, and checking on here a dozen or so times a day hardly means that I still don't put in 12 to 16 hours in the shop every day. So stop playing like Kim and slandering me about work ethic or this industry. People like you keep defending your position against what I said, but you continue to prove I was correct.

And just a note to BOTH of you. If you truly wanted to know Ken's feelings on the issue without asking him to repeat it on here, this site also has a marvelous hyperlink to contact him directly. Look at the top right corner of the page where it says "E-Mail Forum Administrator". It works.

You're pathetic Geo

I should have wrote that response for you before you did Mr predictable.

You are clasified as a know it all, which I'm sure you realize isn't a compliment. People of your nature disgust me quite frankly. You hide behind this facade of an all knowing righteous man who is superior to everyone, yet deep down you have this desire to ridicule, mock, slam, and point out out to everyone the reasons you are a better person than they.

You try to impress people with your eloquent words and phrases, but the real you still comes through with each post when you manage to show your belligerent nature.

I'll say it again - you have a character trait (superiority complex) that stems from something that you obviously fell short on sometime along the way. Good luck resolving your issues.

Here is another option...

I look at it this, everything is here that you need to do what you are talking about.

The only difference is, it is up to you, to take the time to create a link, [url]. to direct people to what you want to share. Now this will take your money, your organization of the files uploaded and stored on a server you are paying for.

Granted, some people like to be able to just click and see their photo with the post. But, the cost to produce this, is nothing too the cost of moderating, and deleting the filth that would be instantly visible to all, young and old who would might click on any post at any given time. Some of which, is hard to trace and prosecute. Now when you post something using another server, the moderator, plus the other server where the link came from, has more leverage to deal with the media left on this site, because of the Term of Agreements they have.

Here are some links that I have posted, they are easy to make and if someone does not care to see them, they can choose not to click on the link. Also the moderator can disable the link if it is of questionable material, it is still not fool proof, but it is a good way to go, because of the people out there who would abuse the instant posting of material on this site.

Sorry, I should have included, The Links have to be Copied and Pasted to your search window, to activate them.

Live links are not avaliable for the exact reasons I mentioned above.

Well I was looking for a good taxidermy forum, but after all the BS on this thread with all the petty bickering, I think I'll pass. Life is too short, some people here need a freaking valium or something.

Theres quite a bit more to this then meeets your eyes, trust us. George does have an interesting way of getting his point across tonight...But, this stuff has been done over and over again, Kens best answers are in the archives, along with many of ours. As for Ken making a ton of money through this site...think it through first. This site advertises ALL suppliers and ALL products. Id dare say they might even LOSE some biz from it. I know Ken well, Ive heard his explanation from him and I understand well why its how it is. Of course I dont know all the computer lingo he does to explain it for you, though. Perhaps contacting Ken with get your answers. Im enjoying the site as-is.

I love this place

It may not be the most top of the line website in the world but it serves it's purpose. It would be nice to be able to post photos but it's easy enough to post links to them at the same time. I think if every one quit gripeing about George he might be in a better mood once in a while. I for one appreciate every bit of advice that George has ever given me, weather is was sugar coated or not, for one big reason...HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING! And so do most of the other people on here but sometimes some one suggests an idea that some one (possibly George!) may have tried and they are simply telling you that it didn't work, simple as that. If he posts a reply to a question you have, I'm pretty sure he's tried the same thing and he's telling you what he knows about it, in his own special way of course. Alot of time a question can be answered by looking in the archives but most don't want to take the time to look for the answer. Or sometimes you just can't find a clear answer. Sometimes I'm in to much of a hurry to want to look but I still do. If it wasn't for this site I wouldn't be as far along in taxidermy as I am, I would be stuck in the stone ages with the 16 year old book I had to go by. I wouldn't be able to get the capes and hides I want, I wouldn't have found most of the supply companys, I would never have gotten answers to things I never would have figured out on my own. Everyone wants to know why the web site isn't update? Look it up in the archives, read a few posts, email the administator. Simple as that. I think Bobby's post said alot to, what kind of impression are we making on other people who stumble across stupidity like this? Why do people have to attack each other? Why can't some people put a little effort into finding answers?
