I just recently mounted my first full strut turkey. I don't care for the way it turned out. Is it possible to soak it up and remount it or am I going to have to live with it? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've remounted some birds that I wasn't happy with after looking at them for a couple weeks. You always seem to find the problems when they're dry. It's much easier if the bird has not completely dried yet. I've always just saturated the bird with water from a spray bottle then covered it with a plastic bag and put it in the fridge for a couple days until you can cut the stitches and remove the skin. Then let it soak in water, but be careful to check it frequently as I've had one slip after letting it soak too long. Unless it was very recently mounted chances are it won't rehydrate like a fresh skin so I reflesh it on the wire wheel which seems to help loosen the skin. Wash, degrease, and dry as you would a new skin, and most importantly figure out why your first attempt wasn't sastisfactory before trying again- reference! Some people have said tanning agents may help although I've not tried these, never needed to. Hope this helps, Aaron.
