I contacted the head of enforcement at Clarks River NWR about my migratory bird permit. He had been in my shop several times and has always been nothing but helpful.I work with the staff there a lot and have done some mounts for them. He contacted the special agent for my region about this. I was told to keep copies of my renewal application and the check and I should be good to go. He really didn't have an explanation why I wasn't notified but it seems to have happened to others several times previous. I will keep a closer eye on the renewal dates in the future also.I personally feel it is better to bring a situation like this to light rather than trying to explain my plight to a judge later.
