This pheasant is my first attempt at birds. I plan to do a hanging dead pose. I skinned the wings by inverting them down to the wrist. I've thoroughly cleaned, fleshed and defatted the entire skin and washed it. I've wired the wings and replaced the muscle tissue with fine excelsior. However when I invert the skin back over the rebuilt wings and try to align the skin on the leading and trailing edges, I have a lot of loose, excess wing skin, making it difficult to align the secondary feathers and get a smooth leading edge. Will pinning back the flight web help this situation? I plan to add some latex with silicone caulk in each wing mostly to act as an adhesive for the secondaries. Any other suggestions to take up this excess skin?
