Americans cannot hunt thick-billed or common murre, and supply companies cater to what the customer want in quantity. You will have to either wrap or carve a body.

Measure the body and order any foam body that comes close to your measurements. And alter it as needed.

For an example...Just because a body is listed as that for a bluewing teal doesn't mean the same body won't fit a bufflehead.

You have not skinned many alcids. The shape of these birds are much more tube like than a duck. to obtain the length of a common murre, when you take a member of an anseriform manikan, may require a Canada Goose body to carve out what is necessary. Seems like a waste of good foam. Wrapping a body, as Daniel points out, is just as fast, and much cheaper. If you have not learned how to either carve or wrap a bird body, there is no time like the present.

as maybe someone across the ocean may have a contact sketch or give your proper measurements. As PA stated the anatomy of alcids is much different from anserforms. To start with the rib cage and lower abodomen extends much farther back, sometimes with the ischium extending out past the pygostyle. This is crucial for proper taxi-ing. Leg placement will be slightly different as well...

For the sake of the specimen, please do some research before jumping right in.. This is one of the ones that would be exception to most rules..

You might also consider contact some of the larger local museums or emailing some of the coastal museums as they may be able to get you measurments off of a study skin, or a preserved specimen.

Good luck,
Jon
