Blood Stains...... Help!

Submitted by Gary on 12/17/99. ( ) 12.7.61.216

I hope you can help me with my problem. I finished fleshing a Barrow's Goldeneye today and was left with blood stains where I made my incision. How can I get rid of the off brown stains? Should I take care of it before washing? I am guessing so but I am not sure how. Any instructions you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Eliminator from Van Dykes

is one of the best at degreasing and blood removal on the market. Several products do one or the other, but this product does them both well at the same time. Soak a fleshed bird skin for 20 minutes by the directions, rinse, squeeze dry and tumble. No blood no grease and it's non-flammable, non-toxic though I don't think you'd want to drink it with your martini.

A touch of Rust remover

Blood stains are caused by the iron in the blood, a touch of rust remover works well for most stains.

Try Carbana Stain Wizard

This stuff I found at Wal-Mart. It's a spray on, then dab and scrub the feathers if the skin is in good shape. Let sit for 30 minutes to an hour and then rinse in COLD CLEAR water several times. Rewash the skinto get the residual treatment out, rinse well and then continue on with your mounting procedure. This stuff remeoves not only extremely dirty stains but the ones that are enzyme based. Blood and oils are all enzyme rich and require this formula to truly work. BTW...Blood has less than 1% blood, JOHN C. Guess what the most predoninamt element in the blood is?...*L*...

New Whink product.....

Whink has come out with a new produck for whitening laundry...It comes in a bottle in powder form. I had a Snow goose that was blood stained (in the freezer for 6 years), and had ground in dirt. I washed it in Gain laundry detergent to get the blood and dirt out, but unfortunately it yellowed due to the length of time I left it in the detergent, plus there were still blood and dirt stains. The Whink detergent took out the blood, the dirt, AND the yellowing caused by the other laundry detergent - I was pretty impressed... I've never used the other products that were suggested to you, but if I were you, i'd give them all a shot. If you don't mind, let me know which one works best - I'm always looking for new solutions to old problems!!!
