Fake Heads For Ducks

I'm just starting to taxidermy ducks so I could use some help. How would artificial heads help and how do I use them? Also, fake feet?

Problems

Many reasons to use artificial heads and feet. So lets get some of them here written down here.
Duck heads, real ones-no brain cleanout, no trying to find the right eye set, no bill shrinkage, no bugs in head or bill. Now for the fake, eyes can be bought in or not but drilled or set for your convenience. Ease of painting. Feet I go either way on this, depending on the speices I'm working on. I mainly use them on waterfowl. Again no bugs, no messy injecting or over filling of fluids. No grease out on the feet. But you have to heat up the feet to position on your base at times. Like always it's up to you to make that decision, good luck.

How do you use them?

Frank, thanks for the info. One more question, though, how do you use them? I haven't read anything about them in the books I have, I've only seen them for sale in catalogs.

Cast Heads

Brandon, A couple of things I like about artifical heads. (1) their is no shrinkage in the bill after the mount dries. (2) Easy to paint and looks like the real thing. Their are alot of ways to secure the artifical head to your mount. If you would like to, please E-Mail me and I can lead you in the direction of purchasing some video's from different companies. Most of them cost about $20.00 plus shipping, but the information is excellent. J.N.
