I recently read another article about Mitch again. supossedly eyeballing a 16pointer in the area where he claimed to have taken
his other big buck. Supposedly this buck will score 230 typical.

Maybe he was looking through the fence into the sanctuary, or some other game ranch.

would ANY hunter tell anyone where a possible world record deer was sighted? If this is true, wouldn't he be setting himself up for the naysayers that claim he poaches?

Here Is His Video Recovering The Deer

This is his home video of him recovering the deer after he shot it, plus him explaining the senario.

What most of you don't know...

This response submitted by Shane on 8/24/06 at 12:15 AM. ( ) 4.154.130.27

If you did your research you would find out this...

-Mitch still sits at the top of Michigan's Archery Typical Category with a buck netting 181 7/8", taken in 1985.
-Before taking the potential record, Mitch had killed approximately 15-20 bucks scoring over 130", including a state record from another state when he was younger.
-Since taking this potential record, he has killed 4 monsters that only a few of us even know about, 1 of them in public hunting ground.
-The stupidity of saying he shot this deer in an enclosure is absurd. The buck would have been worth a mint for its genetics to pass on.
-Mitch had exclusive hunting rights on 2,000 acres all to himself. The years preceding this buck, it was not uncommon for him to pass on 160 class bucks, knowing that they would be booners in the next couple of years. All of you "average" hunters wouldn't understand, but just look at what is happening in the Golden Triangle in Illinois. You pass them up, they just keep getting larger.
-There is a photograph out there that most of you have not even seen. It was taken the year before Mitch shot that buck. It shows three large bucks, The big one, a real big 9 pointer, and another nice buck. It was about 30 inches wide the year before and Mitch ended up shooting the 9 because it was dominant over the big one. The 9 ended up scoring 169.
-Another comparible hunter in Michigan goes by the name Gerald Pennington. He has been reaching great success as well with a lot of monsters with his bow, including a 217" non-typical in 2004. If he ends up shooting a potential record, he will go through the same crap as Mitch has.
-I don't excuse Mitch for his actions through this whole process but you need to realize you are dealing with someone who lives and breathes deer hunting 365 days a year. He does not care about what you and I think, what P&Y or B&C thinks, or the fact that the deer is worth a lot of money. This is what most don't understand. He continues to kill big bucks while all of you feed your jealosy with little "what ifs?".

If you watch the video that was added here, you will also see that one of the other theories is untrue. The rack was not transplanted into this deer. The coloration of the rack that was in question is also a joke. If you know anything about deer from Northern Michigan and especially deer from a cedar swamp, which this one was taken, you will see many variations in color through the horns.

The sad thing about all of this... Some of you no nothing of Mitch or the facts about him or the deer, yet you flood us with all of your speculation. Let it go, Mitch doesn't care what you think. He is the one that gets to admire it on his wall along with the many others. Eat your heart out.

what i dont understand is, that when he shot the potential new world record several years ago, he wouldn't let anybody inspect it or exam the rack and have it measured for the record.
yet he was promoting it as the NEW world record, the one that beat Milo Hansens world record.
then when Milo sued Mitch Rompola (?) the advertising and stories dry up.

but then thats the hunters choice right.
i am sure there area lot of deer that would make the books that are just hanging in barns collecting dust.

i'm like everybody else, if that was my deer i sure as heck would have had it inspected, examined, measured and listed.
when Mitch takes this one and it does break the record, lets hope he makes it public and stops all this naysaying crap.

I am with you Shane

and have been from the get go. I cancelled my subscription and membership to the North American Hunting Club because of the article that was published about Mitch. Most folks will never get it as most are all wanting the fame and fortune but have no idea what hell comes with it. No Thanks here.
