Can a freezer burnt hide be mounted? I was told that burnt hides
just need rehydrated? How do I tell if one is burnt? Are bird skins
the same? Any info would be appreciated.
The dry spots or a dry hide will easily be seen. You can soak in Rittels Super Relaxer or place a rag with S/R on the spots. Have been told that Knoblochs has some good stuff for this.
I run them in my Auto-Tanner and it softens them fine. Once soft the can be tanned and mounted. Yes birds dry also, I have soften several of my bird this was injecting the head and wings, seems the feet soften fine in plain water.
