I just recieved a deer in to be caped out. The deer is loaded with ticks. Is there any way to get rid of these critters without harming the skin? And cane this be done before skinning the deer?

Kill them critters!

I generally put the cape into a plastic bag and then spray a large amount of a flea and tick spray in there. Tie up the end of the sack and let it sit for about an hour. Takes care of most of them. If any crawl off while your working with the cape, just keep a big ol' hammer handy and squash them critters. Good Luck

It can be done before skinning, but it's a little difficult to get the antlers and all into a sack. I generally just spray the entire head and neck area with the flea and tick killer.
