coloring replica's?

Submitted by Trevor on 3/17/01. ( )

Can anyone help me with information on how to color a replica set of whitetail horns. They are white,Do you have to clean them before you start to color them? and if so what do you use to clean them? What should a guy use to color them to get the right color?
Thanks in advance.

It's a simple process. First you can clean them with acetone. Sand all the flashing off. Now to stain them i like to use minwax puritan pine as the first coat. The second would be a darker color like walnut. You can use all different colors here. But the main thing is to let it dry some and then rub it with a fine steel wool.
