I bought a big set of whitetail sheds from a local hunting preserve. They are in fine condition, but unnaturally discolored. Parts of the beams and points are the natural "bone" color, but rather abruptly they are a darker gray. I REALLY don't want to stain them or even worse..paint them. I think the "bone" is the original color, and have no clue as to why parts turned gray. Is there something I can apply to the gray areas to restore the bone color? I have no idea how "deep" the gray color goes, and I doubt if steel wool or sanding would remove it. It looks like it's down into the antler...not just on the surface.
Thanks for any help...eh?

Sounds like they're wet. It's the green and coffee brown ones that should worry you. Lay them out in the sunlight for several days and see if it doesn't go away.
