Is there other material besids bondo that can be used ;earliners are ok but i like getting the real ear with the bonded method.
Mike,
I don't mean to sound smartassed, but read your posting. You want "real" ears and would rather use the "bonded" ear than an earliner? I guess you could just leave the cartilage in and use Liquid Fast Set and a little fiberglass chop instead of Bondo, but once it's dead, ain't nothing REAL left. Bondo, epoxy, or fiberglass is frangible and will crack if bumped. Earliners prevent that fragileness. Once you remove the cartilage, you can sand an earliner down to that same thinness and it will form a "natural" shape versus a real one.
WHAT I MEANT BY REAL EAR IS THE SHAPE OF THE EAR YOUR NOT PUTTING IN A PLASTIC LINNER,BUT USEING THE NATURAL SHAPE OF THE CARTILAGE,I KNOW ITS NOT FOR EVERY ONE AND I DO USE LINNERS,BUT I THINK I GET A BETTER EAR USEING THE BONDED METHOD.
Phil told me he had an epoxie he could do a bonded ear with.
McKenzie sells this product but I dont remember which one.Phil is a good guy he will help you just call McKenzie.
Its a heated talk about bondo and earliners, use bondo thats a bonded ear. I think you are somewhat confused on the subject. Or change the earliners to fit your needs.
I'm sorry my remarks put you in a tiff, but you didn't read what I said. I told you exactly what to use, how to use it, and what you could expect. Phil IS a great guy,(as opposed to me not being anything other than a wiseass, I suppose) but I don't know what there would be to add except a recommendation of another similar epoxy product.
Mike,
Why not just use Bondo? If the bonded ear method is the method you prefer, and Bondo is the ideal medium for use with this technique, why not use it? Just curious.
