Lip problem

Submitted by Warren on 6/12/01. ( wotoole956@aol.com ) 64.12.97.14

A couple of days ago I mounted my first "Wall Pedestal" mount. I had a ragged tear about an inch long in the hairline just below the lipline on the lower jaw. I tried to superglue it but when the mount started to dry it pulled apart. I now have a damp sponge on it to rehydrate the area. Any suggestions on how to repair it would be greatly appreciated.( The cape was tanned.)

You should have used a good epoxy here like epo-grip. What to do now is rehydrate it use a good epoxy. If your using an epoxy for your earliners then use this. Get it on both sides of the seam, close the seam and use insect pins to hold the hide together till the epoxy sets and the hide dries out. This should cure your problem.

This is a good example as to why I dont suggest super glue and adhesives like it. The strong epoxies will do the trick, and dont foget the hide paste that holds the rest of the mount together. You may wanna touch it up a bit after it dries, too.
