I have this guys deer feet skinned and salted ready to mount gun rack style on the panel, and what I need to know is if it is ok to take these and soak them in a solution with bacteriacide to soften them up, and then apply instant preserve, or should I avoid this and actually tan them?

In gallon of water and a pound of salt first.
In my personal opinion I would pickle and tan it but after you rehydrate it you can use DP. It's a personal choice that you must make.
