EAR BUTT IDEA

Well here it goes. I have a idea. I dont know if anyone has tryed this but Im gona toss it out there. It maybe a stupid idea but I guess maybe someone out there has tryed it and maybe not. The idea I have has to do with those darn earbutts. Lets say you mounted (sewd up you cape) your deer using just the bondo ear method without adding clay to form the earbutt. After you did all the lip tucking and eye work exc. You come back to your ears to form the ear butts. You pin the outside where you wont your earbutts to be and you fill them up with a tool they use to put frosting on a cake. You make your clay so as not to be to thick and add the clay to the inside of the palstic tube and put your bracket in against the clay. Put on the front of the frosting gun a funnel that comes with the kit push the trigger, lever its electric.Out comes the clay and inside your ear to form your earbutt. Oh well I tryed. Kev .

The more fluid the clay, the higher the water content. The higher the water content, the greater the shrinkage. The additional water may do strange things to the adjacent skin areas as it percolates into the tissue.

There are materials such as moulage that might do the trick, but I would much rather just add the clay before mounting the skin. How could you forget that? You would be better off making a small slit in the hide and adding clay via that portal if push came to shove. Moist clay can be formed through the hide by pressing on the skin to manipulate and form it. Sounds like the old boat in the basement trick to me..........good luck.

thanks for the reply

No I haven't tryed it yet but I do know of a taxidermist who does use this tool to fill up bear feet and other hard places to get to. I might just try it to see if it will work and on my deer, you never know it might work. Thanks for the imput. Kev.
