Mule deer different than WhiteTail?

Submitted by Jim B on 5/1/02. ( ) 172.140.106.73

I'm getting ready for a trip out West and will have a chance to take a Muley. I've mounted several WT but have NO experience on Mule Deer.

Is there any difference in preparation, caping, salting or commercial tanning that I should be aware of? Or is everything the same?

If it's different, is there any good sources of info to read up on for mounting Muleys? Thanks for the input.

A cape is a cape when turning splitng and salting, the quicker the better, more salt is always cheap insurance.

Thanks for the info on the Muleys.

Now how about Elk? If I only have experience in caping White Tails, do you guys think I could cape an Elk just as well? Or should I leave it to the pro's?

Thanks again.
