After asking you on the forums about a paint schedule for the deer on the cover of Buckeye, I found out which Breakthrough it was in. Backordered that issue and subscribed - best investment I've made in a long time. THANKS. My question - which clear gloss do you use? I'm going to use the colors you suggest, except in water base. Is the clear gloss a polytranspar or something else? Thanks again, Becky P

I cant tell you much about water based paints, Becky. I use lacquers. In my opinion, and understand its just my opinion, lacquers work better for what Im trying to do. It cleans out of the hair easier, and its no more or less harmful then water base. Neither one would be safe to inhale. I use PolyTranspar paints !

I'll back that up

Personally, it never made sense to me to re-introduce moisture from waterbased paints into a dried skin. I agree with Bill, the only exception being that I use Alkyd paints for the purpose because they can be thinned with safer distilates - AND because I have switched to them from oil paints as a painting medium and I have them in studio inventory. The distillate based pigments do not sit on top of leather as do acrylic paints. They tend to permeate the surface and provide a deeper and more realistic finish.

Thanks guys...
