Sorry, I did not read all of it. Camo duct tape.

Carrage bolts?

This response submitted by Grouseman on 09/17/2002. ( ) 170.215.11.195

I think that would hold em. Just drill a hole or two through the skull plate and your hood of your truck and bolt em down.

What?

I can't beleive it... no one has suggested "Epo-Grip" adhesives! I always use Epo-Grip products, especially when attaching deer antlers to trucks. Where are all the loyal "epo-nuts" when you need them?

Heck, I've used MOHR Jaw Juice to fasten the weather stripping back around the door opening of my old pick-up!

Here is one Epo-Grip nut. If you use Epo-Grip, you will have to degrease the cap and sand both the cap and the paint down with a coarse sandpaper to obtain optimum bonding. Wipe the skull cap and the hood with acetone before gluing.

Personally, I find nothing wrong with a couple of 1/4 bolts, four fender washers and some lock nuts. The Epo-Grip will settle out the surface and prevent wobbling.

You must not know diddly about adhesives. EVERYONE knows nothing works like duct tape. Especially CAMO duct tape. I think Jason's suggestion would be a perfect complement to the antlers on the hood. NOW, as for the squirrel tails on the radio antennae, THAT'S when you need Epo-Grip.

May be illegal

This response submitted by wayne on 09/18/2002. ( ) 63.172.152.172

in some states because of a safety or impalement hazard.

Check with your state first

This response submitted by Superpig on 09/18/2002. ( ) 205.188.209.13

here in Texas the traffic code prohibits dangerous ornaments on the hood of any vehicle. Deer antlers are considered a dangerous hood ornament. Might want to call your DPS first and check with them to stay legal.

yea I know

I can see the logic here, if I was going to get hit by a truck doing 75 mph the last dang thing I would want is to get a horn shoved up my rear end first. Just a thought

guys thanks for the info. i think i will use the bolts to mount the antlers to the hood. i had to flip a coin on which would be better, spend 25,000 on a harley or fixing up the camo blazer with the horns. i think i will have just as much fun driving the blazer. ha.ha. marty

No, no, no...

There you guys go telling him the cheap-looking wat to do it. If you want to do it right, you need bondo, all thread rod, sundry nuts and washers, and a big sledge hammer. Use the sledge to create a depression in the hood sufficiently deep enough to accept the skull cap where the burr lines are approxiamtely level with the rest of the hood. Use a smaller ball-peen hammer if necessary to tweek the depression fo a perfect fit. Now, position the antlers and drill a hole through the skull cap then thru the hood large enough for the all-thread to pass through. Preferably, the all-thread should be secured both on top of the skull plate, and at the other time, to the frame of the truck. It may, in fact, be best to use two pieces of all-thread angled to the outside toward the wheel wells to avoid problems with the fan. Bolt in place, bondo over top, feathering the bondo to the burr lines, sand, prime and paint. Now ain't that purty!

as I hitch up my trousers and weigh in...

Us New Yorkers can be hicks too, ya know. What about baling wire, boys? Sheesh, you guys dissappoint me! That way if the radiator falls out of the truck this winter, youll have something to fix it with, borrowed from the antler mount on the hood. Im sure I cant be the ONLY one who drives old junk trucks around, can I? Hey DaveK, TomF, RobR, tell these guys about my snow barge!

Be prepared!

You are starting to sound like my grandpa, a little bailing wire and he could fix dang near anything. I swear his old john deer wasn't much more then a frame, engine and bailing wire. I bet that thing still runs too. Cheers

it's a 12 point mutant red stag,my first! i think it would make me more intimedating to house wives in their SOBs (sorry i mean SUVs)

what ever happened to baler twine?

This response submitted by Casey on 10/09/2002. ( ) 198.60.100.93

Use baling twine, its clean, just drill some holes, wrap it up and tie a knot. Your good to go. This is also good if you need to remove them for some purpose, just cut it off with a pocket knife. Plus: the baling twine can be used for many other purposes if you need it, work great for a tie down strap also. And I`m sure on most of our hunting trucks, we are always having to tie something down. You know, batteries, bumpers, Deer!
