Sounds like dermistids and if it is, it needs a good bug treatment now. As for repairs, I paint clear epoxy inside the ear and stuff it with cotton balls. When the glue dries, pull out the cotton and he "hairs" are left.
George.. I never heard of that before. I have had a couple deer that had lost a small spot of hair in ear. I am going to try that one.... great tip! Thanks!
