Instead of potter's clay around the eyes, use Apoxie clay. Let them dry and then mount your skin using hide past right down to the eye lashes. Pull you skin and pin it with seamstress pins until the glue tacks. Pull the pins and taxi the hide to the pose you like. Make sure you shave the eyelids thin down to the hair follicles. If you don't, they'll be puffy and stand out abnormally.
