Soak Them

The best way is to submerge them in a pond and let the elements clean them. It will go a lot faster if you take as much velvet off as you can. An experienced taxidermist I know actually ties all of his racks in the lakes up north during his hunts. then when it is time to leave his racks are DONE!

Has mentioned before a big rubber maid tub works good. Fill with water and to help I run a knife down the middle of the beams to aid the water to soak under. Let em soak about mtwo to three days then run a knife under the membrane to the tips grab with pliers a strip will only take about 15 minutes to stip each side . Then let air dry. Being in velvet some of the tips will be soft but I put some of the Van Dykes bleaching agent on them and let em sit in the sun. This is to get a uniform color so when dry I stain with maple and a darker stain.
