I believe there is a link for The Learning Channel off of the Discovery Channel website. Look up the show robot wars and there should be links to robot building sites there. Thats where ya wanna look - not here =)
BEFORE we type. A similar request is only about a dozen below but this was covered in detail some time back. Look it up.
call the people at mojoe duck decoys, they have a deer decoy that moves its head and tail i think that the body moves as well its name is mojoe- deer ht.
FX supply company sells a wide variety of servos, motors and controls for a project like the one you mention. George is correct about the archives. A number of us responded to a similar post a year ago and all the details and approaches to the problem were covered then and are waiting your search.
A number of us have built robotics in the past and it is not so difficult a task. There are three primary decisions to make:
1. What is the range of motion required and what will you need to drive the mechanical action.
2. How will it be controlled? e.g. Remotely by RC, control box and direct wiring, etc....
3. Where to store the power pack and how to run the wiring harness.
It doesn't take a mental giant to mechanize a full body form.......good luck.
Type "FX Supply" into your browser. The company is located in Arizona, I believe. There are other suppliers, including Radio Shack that have the electronics required for the job at hand.
