cape slipping

Submitted by fritz on 01/16/2003. ( )

I just got done mounting a deer and noticed hair coming out when i was sewing. After i was done sewing I noticed there was hair coming out all over the mount. As soon as I would wipe the mount mount with my hand even more hair kept coming out. Its been drying for six days and it still comes out when you lightly wipe the cape with your hand. Is this a bad cape or will it continue to get better as it dries. I dont want to give it to my customer with a chance of hair coming out. Any suggestions would be great.

Put a fan on it and quit touching it, the hair will eventually set

I know how frustrating it can be to mount a deer and have the hair not wanting to stay put. As a matter of fact some of the hair on my head has the same problem! The best thing you can do now is to place it in a dry area and put a fan on it and, LEAVE IT ALONE! The more you poke and pull at the hair the more will come out. I am not saying this will definately fix your problem. There are many different reasons for hair slippage. But, if this mount is saveable that is your best option.
Good Luck!
