Im mounting a mule deer ,late Aug summer hair , the hair is so short you can see the stitching . Can anyone help ? Is there a stitch that will work better? Or is there a idea that could help? What do most people do with short hair capes?

a small v shaped cut in the form below were the stitching is going to be and fill with clay...then when you are done sewing just take a "flat bladed" tool and carefully tuck the stitching into the slot and pin in place all the way down both sides of the stitching....caution be careful not to make too large a groove and end up tucking stiches too deep
good luck

Carpet seam tape

I did a short haired deer 5 years ago with carpet seam tape.
It still looks as good as the day I did it. You just need a really neat edge ,not a jagged cut .
