help with ultra soft

i am rehydrating a salted whitetail cape that has dried rock hard. i am using Rittel's ultra soft and bacteriacide.the instructions say to rehydrate for 12-24 question is, will leaving the cape in that long affect the chances for hair slippage?normally my capes aren't that hard and rehydrate main concern is leaving the hide in water/ultra soft solution overnight.any input is appreciated

Then put them in solution in the morning...

this way you can check them if your worried during the day. I use Ultra Soft only in water, no bacteriacide, as per Bruce. Never had a problem, and yes if you fleshed the cape good prior to salting it doesn't take that long to soften up.

Hi al, I agree with Paul and just use water with the Ultra-soft relaxer. You do not need a bacteriacide added to the solution. You can remove your hides as soon as they are relaxed, as some hides rehydrate faster than others. I use ultra-soft and have never had a problem. I even have use it on dried bird skins with excellant results.Good luck.
