Thought I would ask the forum to help me make a decision.
This past Jan., I was lucky enough to take a 132 7/8" P.Y. whitetail.
My best ever, with a bow. I saw this buck on 2 consecutive mornings,
the first morning he was trailing a doe, stopping and lip curling every now and then. I had to pass the first morning because of some obstructions, and I took him the second morning. My question is should I mount him in the lip curl pose, or a conventional sh. mt. Im a 20 yr. part-timer, and I have never had this much trouble making a decision. If it were a clients, it would be easy.

It would seem to me to mount it in the most memorable moment of the hunt you can remember. What was the one thing that drew you in awe about the buck, and what was he doing right before you shot him that you will always remeber. It is your memory you are trying to preserve, and that is best satisfied with your own desire of how you want to remember him
...while he was relieving himself out the back end. And, another when he was on top of his girlfriend!
What a way to go huh?
This one's gonna have to be your call, but I always laugh when a hunter comes in and tells me what Tom just stated. "I want my bear looking natural", Oh, OK, I'll mount it with it's head in a barrel full of donuts. Or "I want my deer to look like it did just before I shot it", Oh OK, Eyes wide open thinking "OH crap, how did I get here". No matter how you have it mounted, that hunt is burned indelibly in your mind and no one else will ever experience it as you did. I have all my animals mounted looking regal and majestic as I can manage and that doesn't include drooling, tongues hanging out, or over sexed. But that's MY call. You'll decide on what you like.
I mounted my First Mount Mounting A mound...while voyeur watching another mount mounting a mount...titled it..."Hey Rudolph...Lookee me!"

Thanks fellas,Appreciate the input. I have to say that I'm partial to the majestic pose,Ive never been crazy about snarls & growls.Anyway I have to tell ya, the 2nd morning, he showed up at 9:20, alone to my right at 15, he caught me with my bow hanging on my tree. As he walked in front of me I was able to grab my bow and get a perfect quartering away at 10. I stuck him in the water, which added to the dramatics. Sorry guys I had to tell ya. I have two pics. on "Mike Lane's Louisiana Fishing & Hunting" www.rod n reel.com
P.S. hey Marty, Ill bet the one you shot relieving himself, gave you an awsome shot pattern.
Sorry guys, the picture titles are- bayou buck & bayou buck 2....
