Torn Ear

Hey all! I was wondering if any of you all have ever came across a deer that has a torn ear from fighting? This cape that I have basically has a 2" tear from the tip of the ear inward (horizontally) to the earbutt. Does anyone have any ideas as how I could fix this using an earliner? Thought maybe cutting the earliner to fit and slide in between the split, but not sure how the "v" shaped ear would look. Mr. Roof, have you ever come across this in your career? Any help or response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and good evening.......Travis

Tears cut ears etc are common among deer if they have a v in the ear mostly on the bottom side i just blow it out fit the earliner and over cut it where the wedge is then use a good adhesive. If it is just a tear and does not go all the way thru you can fix with a strong adhesive also.

Happens all the time. Hold the ear liner next to the ear to get an idea of where to trim the liner. Mark the ear liner with a marker and trim away to the shape of the tear. Cutting away alittle more is better in this case. Carefully test fit. Then apply a thin bead of a epoxy sculpt type of product to the cut out area on the liner. Next apply a good adhesive to the earliner and to the inside of the ear skin. That way you are assured of having good adhesion. Insert the ear liner and adjust as usual. Around the cut out, squeeze the apoxy thin to fill in the irregular area around the cut out . Your as good as gold. Good Luck!
